Resident Disrupts Council Meeting
FLOWER MOUND - a disturbance during Thursday's Town Council meeting disrupted a rather mundane agenda.
A resident who spoke during citizens open form asked to be appointed the town liaison to the post office - a position that doesn't exist. When Mayor Lori DeLuca declined to make the appointment, the woman got mad.
A person who attended the meeting and spoke on the condition of anonymity said the woman then approached interim police chief Ken Brooker and informed him she attempted to kill her husband. When Brooker dismissed the claim, the woman approached Town Manager Van James and requested the opportunity to make a formal complaint against the police chief.
Town officials reportedly contacted the woman's psychiatrist, who said her threats should be taken seriously and that security should be provided for DeLuca.
According to the source, the woman was escorted to Charter Behavioral Health System in Grapevine in a Flower Mound police car Thursday night.
A police car was also stationed outside DeLuca's home until Friday afternoon, the source said.
DeLuca also declined to reveal any details of the alleged confrontation.
Charter Hospital officials on Friday would neither confirm nor deny the woman's admittance into the facility.
