Letter to Town Council Fall 2013
Flower Mounds Master plan is not just a document on a shelf… It is the voice of the people and the guide to the town’s future.
It is a set of documents that the citizens of our town committed to long ago and invested thousands of hours of study, hundreds of open meetings, and over 2 million dollars on.
If followed: The master plan will provide a balanced spectrum of housing
If followed: the master plan will provide a balanced mix of retail commercial and industrial zoning
If followed: the plan will provide a balanced tax base
If followed: the plan will provide a level playing field for all who invest and do business in Flower Mound
If followed: the plan will balance and mitigate the demands on our school system
If followed: the plan will provide for adequate infrastructure for our future water, sewer, and transportation needs
In short if followed: the Master Plan will keep Flower Mound a unique and desirable town to live in. A town that has preserved the peoples vision of what their town should be.
What effect do amendments have on the plan?
Anytime you change densities or underlying fundamentals in the plan you compromise the integrity and balance of the entire plan. You are in effect saying we know better than the experts we paid to create a balanced plan.
I ask that you listen to the “voice of the people embraced within our master plan” and reaffirm your campaign commitments to support the Master Plan, Please do not pass this amendment.
